We all know that wellbeing is good for business and that healthy people are happier, more engaged and more productive and that is why we have appointed our Learning and Development Director, Kate Hooper, as our Mental Health First Aider for the business.
Element Recruitment are proud to announce that we've signed the @MHFAEngland #WheresYourHeadAt workplace Manifesto, joining the call for a working world where mental health is supported and protected internally by a dedicated Mental Health First Aider. Practical mental health skills and awareness training is a key component for creating a safe, healthy workplace where the mental health and physical health of employees are valued equally. We want to give people the tools to support their own mental health by being able to signpost them in the right direction to get the support needed. The training Kate received will now be cascaded to our senior team allowing more opportunities to support our workplace.
We know that stress, anxiety and depression is the biggest cause of sickness absence in our society. Mental ill health is responsible for 91 million working days lost every year and Element recognise that we can make a difference to our staff. We are about being supportive; we like to invest in employee wellbeing and believe that mental health is not a sign of weakness; in fact it can be the opposite. Determined, energetic, purposeful high achievers can be the most vulnerable, because they push themselves so hard. Winston Churchill, Isaac Newton, Charles Dickens and Beethoven all experienced mental health issues.
We believe we have a personal responsibility to look after our own wellbeing as well as the mental health of others we work with and we are looking forward to seeing our team flourish with the new planned activities and support as well as our new ‘Mood Zone’ which will allow the team to find escapism, relax and have a room that creates mindfulness. We are excited for our future here at Element… watch this calm space!
