System Accountant (6 months) Day rate / FTC | £50,000 - £60,000 | Bath 

We are partnering with a global technology leader currently undergoing a major structural upgrade to achieve world-class efficiency. They are seeking a highly skilled Systems Accountant / Flex Analyst for a critical 6-month project with a singular mission: to eliminate the manual burden of month-end. This is your opportunity to move from maintaining systems to mastering them, leaving behind a streamlined, automated legacy that transforms how our global finance team operates.

The Role:

The successful candidate will blend financial accounting expertise with technical development skills to drive process efficiency and control.

• Shadow the month-end cycle to identify bottlenecks within the first 7 working days and master the system workflows.
• Take independent ownership of US entity month-end tasks, managing journal preparation and accounting judgements under tight deadlines.
• Document and map all month-end procedures, focusing specifically on the end-to-end revenue recognition process.
• Design and build logic-driven invoice models that account for complex edge cases while maintaining full compliance with accounting requirements.
• Translate validated formulas into scalable code using Google Apps Script or Python to automate manual workflows.
• Transition data processes from manual CSV imports to automated API connections or scripted integrations with the system.
• Develop advanced scripts to automate the handling of complex, rule-based edge cases identified during the triage phase.
• Build a robust exception-handling script that automatically filters and quarantines invoices
• Create a manual and handover to the team

Your Profile:

• Senior analyst with demonstrable financial accounting skills
• Part or fully qualified accountant (ACCA / CIMA / ACA)
• Proficient in building automation scripts using Python and/or Google Apps Script
• Experience in API integration and data structure definition
• UAT experience
