Senior Financial Accountant | Global Charity | Bristol / Remote | £55k - £65k

We are currently working exclusively with a Global charity to find a Senior Financial Accountant. This is a pivotal role within a world-leading charity, where you will ensure the financial integrity of operations across multiple countries. You will be the bridge between complex global transactions and transparent, mission-critical reporting.

This role is responsible for ensuring the integrity of global financial accounts, managing the month-end and year-end close, and providing leadership to the transactional finance team. You will ensure compliance with UK Charity SORP and maintain robust internal controls across multiple currencies and international jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Month-End and Year-End Close Support - Prepare and review all journals, accruals, prepayments, and accounting adjustments. Drive the delivery of global close processes, ensuring all country teams adhere to reporting deadlines. Review international submissions for accuracy and resolve complex accounting queries or corrective actions.
  • Global Consolidation and Reporting - Support the preparation of global consolidations, including intercompany eliminations and multi-currency translations. Prepare supporting schedules for group-level reporting and ensure the correct treatment of restricted versus unrestricted funds.
  • Balance Sheet and Control Discipline - Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations to identify and escalate control weaknesses. Monitor intercompany balances, payroll journals, and fixed assets while maintaining audit-ready documentation.
  • Statutory Accounts and Audit Preparation - Support the production of annual statutory accounts under the UK Charity SORP framework. Prepare audit schedules and working papers, acting as a primary point of contact for external audit queries. Track and implement audit recommendations to improve the accounting function.
  • Leadership and Management - Line manage the Senior Global Accounts Officer, providing supervision, performance feedback, and professional development. Oversee day-to-day transactional activities including payables, receivables, cash postings, and payroll processing. Ensure all team outputs adhere to internal controls, delegated authorities, and accounting policies.
  • Systems and Process - Support Maintain the integrity of the chart of accounts and financial data within NetSuite or similar ERP systems. Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance reporting quality and operational efficiency.
  • Team and Stakeholder - Support Provide technical accounting guidance to country finance teams and collaborate with FP&A to align actuals with forecasts. Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing culture within the wider finance department.

Personal Attributes

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA, or CIMA) with strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Proven experience in a complex, multi-currency reporting environment.
  • Knowledge of UK Charity SORP and statutory reporting requirements is desirable
  • Experience in line management or the supervision of a finance team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to support international stakeholders.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with global ERP systems like NetSuite.
