Junior DevOps Engineer - Bristol - North

We have partnered with a Global Fintech client who are expanding their Global DevOps and Cloud team with a Junior Devops Engineer on a permanent contract. You have a great opportunity to join an industry leading business who support some of the world leading investment banks. Our client will offer you excellent growth potential to further a Junior Devops Engineer to develop your experience and knowledge and you will have the opportunity to influence others and to personally develop in a friendly and welcoming environment. We welcome engineering professionals from a variety of backgrounds to add to a diverse teams in Bristol development centre. Java and Spring are our primary backend technologies with Angular and Typescript in our frontend.

Job Responsibilities      

- Involved in the complete product lifecycle from initial requirements definition, design, development and solution configuration through to deployment

- Agile approach using Behaviour Driven Development and Continuous Deployment technologies

- Willingness to adopt Agile practices such as Pair-programming and Test-Driven Development

- Support on-going development, maintenance and fixes of our clients solutions and in-house toolkits

- Follow the development process and quality standards

- Responsibility for developing scalable and robust solutions, which meet the high performance and availability standards of global financial institution

Key Skills            

- A passion for software development

- Strong technology skills and interest

- Great communication and teamwork

- Independent and motivated

Desirable Skills

- UI skills to include Angular/similar modern front end frameworks

- HTML5 and Java programming

- RESTful web services

- BDD, TDD, Continuous Deployment

Qualifications  

- BSc (Honours) Computer Science or a similar degree with significant computing bias

Experience        

- Experience developing in a software vendor environment is desirable

- Financial software experience would be a bonus, but is not expected

- Experience as a software engineer or developer is a must
