The Opportunity

I am working with a fantastic independent firm of accountants based in Gloucester who are seeking an experienced and detail-driven bookkeeping professional to take ownership of their bookkeeping operations while delivering outstanding financial support to a diverse client base. This is an on-site role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys tackling technical challenges, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Overseeing bookkeeping activities across a portfolio of clients
  • Preparing and filing VAT returns accurately and on time
  • Managing payroll processes, ensuring compliance with current regulations
  • Handling CIS returns and submissions
  • Supporting clients with accounting software, including providing training on platforms such as Xero and QuickBooks
  • Acting as a key point of contact for client queries, delivering prompt and professional responses
  • Keeping financial records precise and up to date while meeting key deadlines
  • Identifying efficiencies and contributing to improvements in bookkeeping processes
  • Working closely with colleagues to ensure smooth delivery of client services

About You

  • Proven bookkeeping background, ideally gained within an accountancy practice
  • Strong understanding of VAT, payroll, and CIS processes
  • Confident user of Xero and QuickBooks, with the ability to guide and train others
  • Clear communicator with strong organisational skills
  • Able to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Meticulous attention to detail with a focus on accuracy
  • A proactive, positive approach with a strong client-service mindset
