Commercial Finance Controller (Infrastructure Dev Finance)

Hybrid / M4 Corridor

£70,000 - £80,000 + Bonus

This opportunity is an exciting position for a strongly commercial qualified accountant with a background in large scale, high value development finance role.

The organisation is an international successful employer and this position is highly visible so offers a great platform for progression.

You will provide key financial planning, analysis, reporting and partnering to numerous internal and external stakeholders in a complex and growing business environment.

You will also be responsible for challenging the methodologies, controls and financial processes across multiple large scale projects. A critical and curious mind is essential.

A natural confidence and strong stakeholder management skills is of course essential. As is the ability to work in a complex sector, working with a broad cross-section of professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Support project managers with regional reporting/forecasting, budget estimates for new projects and other ad hoc support
  • Support commercial teams and input financial control and financial planning into contract negotiation
  • Manage the project(s) specific budgets and/or overhead costs using controlling methods (review of commitments, forecasting, actuals, etc) whilst understanding the portfolio impact of changes
  • Prepare the monthly reporting for the specific project(s)/departments the role supports. This can include the preparation of required accruals, producing reports, and detailed analysis on the resource and non-resource costs
  • Develop and Implement Controlling processes and tools and seek continuous improvement ideas to benefit the team as a whole drawing on other Finance and IT-related support as necessary
  • Produce key performance indicators and progress reports for submission into a monthly pack for review by all senior Development and Functional stakeholders
  • Ensure internal controls are being adequately applied e.g. investment spend, controls detailed in specific project shareholder agreements or local country-specific procedures, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Seniority and strong analytical skills with an ability to deal with complex transactions / commercial issues
  • Experience working in a project environment on finance topics ie Accounting, Controlling
  • Proactive in managing multiple stakeholders and priorities
  • Experienced in working with ERP systems and Excel
  • Knowledge of large development/construction/engineering/energy projects.
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a creative and global environment with an entrepreneurial attitude
  • Ability to maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders

 Role is hybrid with 2 days a week office based. (M4 Corridor)
