Bookkeeper – Growing Business in Bristol

We’re working with a growing and ambitious business in Bristol that is looking to appoint an experienced Bookkeeper to join their expanding finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys working in a hands-on role within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
The Role:
As the Bookkeeper, you will take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial records. This role would suit someone who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and confident managing a range of bookkeeping duties with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records including sales, purchases, receipts, and payments.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including supplier payments and customer invoicing.
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in compliance with current regulations.
- Assist with monthly management accounts and reporting.
- Liaise with external accountants and support year-end processes.
- Support wider finance and administrative tasks as required.
About You:
- Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping role, ideally within an SME environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping processes.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage).
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- AAT qualification or working towards is desirable but not essential.
