Job Title: Finance Assistant – Billing Focus | Bristol | Salary: £28,000 – £32,000
Overview
Our client, a growing business based in Bristol, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant with a strong billing and sales ledger background. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, issue, and track client invoices in line with agreed terms
- Maintain the sales ledger and ensure accurate posting of income
- Monitor outstanding invoices and support with credit control follow-ups
- Liaise with internal teams (e.g., account management, operations) to ensure billing accuracy
- Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end processes including reporting and ledger checks
- Respond to client queries related to invoicing and payment terms
- Assist with process improvements to streamline the billing cycle
- Support ad hoc finance duties as required by the Finance Manager or Financial Controller
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- 1–3 years’ experience in a finance assistant or billing/accounts receivable role
- Strong understanding of billing procedures and sales ledger maintenance
- Confident using accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
- Good Excel skills and attention to numerical detail
- Clear, professional communication skills – written and verbal
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage workload independently
Desirable:
- Experience in a project-based, consultancy, or service business
- Working knowledge of credit control processes
- Studying towards AAT or similar finance qualification
