Job Title: Finance Assistant – Billing Focus | Bristol | Salary: £28,000 – £32,000

Our client, a growing business based in Bristol, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Finance Assistant with a strong billing and sales ledger background. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, issue, and track client invoices in line with agreed terms
  • Maintain the sales ledger and ensure accurate posting of income
  • Monitor outstanding invoices and support with credit control follow-ups
  • Liaise with internal teams (e.g., account management, operations) to ensure billing accuracy
  • Reconcile accounts and assist with month-end processes including reporting and ledger checks
  • Respond to client queries related to invoicing and payment terms
  • Assist with process improvements to streamline the billing cycle
  • Support ad hoc finance duties as required by the Finance Manager or Financial Controller

Candidate Profile

Essential:

  • 1–3 years’ experience in a finance assistant or billing/accounts receivable role
  • Strong understanding of billing procedures and sales ledger maintenance
  • Confident using accounting software (Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
  • Good Excel skills and attention to numerical detail
  • Clear, professional communication skills – written and verbal
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage workload independently

Desirable:

  • Experience in a project-based, consultancy, or service business
  • Working knowledge of credit control processes
  • Studying towards AAT or similar finance qualification
