Assistant Tax and Partnership Accountant

Salary: £45,000 - £51,000

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Tax Accountant to join our finance team. Working closely with the Head of Tax and Partnership Accounting, you will support the organisations tax compliance and reporting processes for both the firm and its partners. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a professional services partnership structure and to develop a strong foundation in tax and accounting within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support partnership tax compliance, including preparation of tax returns, tax reserves, and capital allowance calculations.
  • Assist with corporation tax compliance and related financial statement provisions.
  • Prepare and manage partner distributions, capital account movements, and associated reporting.
  • Provide support with VAT compliance and payroll reconciliations.
  • Maintain the integrity of financial data across accounting systems and ledgers.
  • Contribute to process improvements, control enhancements, and financial accuracy.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and partners to resolve queries.
  • Stay updated on developments in tax and accounting legislation.

About You

  • Working towards or holding the ATT qualification (other accounting qualifications desirable).
  • Experience in tax compliance for individuals, partnerships, and companies.
  • Strong understanding of UK Business tax, VAT, Employment and personal tax. 
  • Competent in Excel (Pivots, LookUps & SumIFs) with familiarity with standard tax software.
  • Solid grasp of double entry bookkeeping & Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical, curious, and resilient, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Able to manage your workload effectively and adapt to the demands of a busy finance team.
