Group Assistant Management Accountant - Wiltshire

We’re working on behalf of a highly successful, growing business to recruit a Group Assistant Management Accountant to join their collaborative finance team. This role will suit a motivated, part-qualified accountant with strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the confidence to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to gain broad exposure to group accounting, reporting, analysis, and project work, with plenty of scope for growth and progression.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the timely preparation of monthly and weekly Group financial reports, including P&L accounts, cash flow statements, variance analysis, and commentary
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Take ownership of assigned areas of the P&L and balance sheet, providing detailed analysis and commentary in collaboration with the Head of Group Accounting
  • Manage fixed asset and stock accounting processes
  • Support cost of sale analysis and related reporting
  • Provide forecasts and budget information to stakeholders, working closely with the FP&A manager
  • Calculate prepayments and accruals accurately
  • Partner with cost centre owners to provide insightful financial analysis and commentary
  • Support the onboarding of acquisitions into the Group finance systems and processes
  • Assist with external audits and preparation of the Group’s statutory accounts
  • Support the preparation and submission of Group tax information
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the finance function
  • Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support business decision-making and performance
  • Collaborate with senior leaders on budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control initiatives
  • Support the Group Financial Controller and Group CFO with ad-hoc projects
  • Assist with user acceptance testing (UAT) of finance-related system changes

You will need:

  • Ideally part-qualified (CIMA / ACCA / ACA)
  • Solid technical accounting skills, with strong understanding of P&L, balance sheet, and reconciliations
  • Confident working with large volumes of data and multiple data sources
  • Advanced Excel skills, including data checks, balance reconciliations, and formulas
  • Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage across all levels of the business
  • Curious, diligent, and proactive in approach
  • Comfortable working in a flexible hybrid environment with minimal micromanagement
  • A genuine team player, able to build positive working relationships across departments
