AML Officer - Bristol

Element Recruitment are working with a leading professional services firm based in Central Bristol on their search for an AML Officer to join their growing Risk & Compliance function. This is an excellent chance for a compliance professional with a strong understanding of anti-money laundering (AML) regulations to step into a high-impact role within a sophisticated and regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess Client Due Diligence (CDD) documentation in line with internal AML policies and regulatory obligations.
• Prepare detailed CDD reports and risk assessments, collaborating with stakeholders across the business to ensure all required information is complete and compliant.
• Conduct ongoing monitoring of clients and matters, including periodic reviews, updates, and risk reassessments.
• Perform Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) and sanctions checks, escalating complex or high-risk issues as needed.
• Build strong internal relationships to support firm-wide compliance objectives and ensure best practices are upheld.
• Support wider compliance projects and contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Risk & Compliance team.

About You

The ideal candidate will bring:

• Demonstrable AML experience gained within a regulated professional services environment (legal, financial services, banking, or similar).
• Strong knowledge of UK Money Laundering Regulations, EU AML Directives, and a working understanding of sanctions legislation.
• Familiarity with complex international corporate structures and the risks associated with high-risk clients.
• Experience conducting PEP and sanctions screening and working with CDD information from a variety of public and private sources.
