Element Recruitment is pleased to be working with a well-established and professional organisation based in the heart of Bath, known for its collaborative culture and commitment to financial excellence. As their team continues to grow, they are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the finance function across key areas including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, VAT, and Credit Control.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and maintain accurate records of supplier invoices and payments (Accounts Payable)
Manage customer invoicing, payment allocations, and follow-ups (Accounts Receivable)
Perform regular reconciliations of accounts and bank statements
Monitor and manage aged debt, ensuring timely collection and maintaining strong client relationships (Credit Control)
Prepare VAT returns in line with current regulations
Support month-end reporting and assist with audit preparation as required
Collaborate closely with the finance team and other departments to ensure accurate financial processing
Key Requirements:
Proven experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role
Strong working knowledge of AP, AR, VAT, and credit control processes
AAT Level 3 qualified (or equivalent) preferred; Level 2 with experience will also be considered
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or similar) and MS Excel
Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to meet deadlines
Proactive, reliable, and confident working independently or as part of a team
