My Work Experience at Element Recruitment
Over the past week, I had the chance to do a work experience placement with Element Recruitment, and it’s honestly been such a valuable experience. Not only did I learn a lot about how the recruitment industry works, but I also picked up some useful workplace skills that I know will help me in the future.
First Impressions
From the moment I arrived, I realised just how fast-paced and people-focused recruitment is. No two days were ever the same, and I quickly saw how important it is to have good communication, organisation, and people skills in this kind of environment. It’s an industry built around relationships, and that really stood out to me throughout my time there.
What I Got Involved With
Throughout the week, I was lucky enough to get stuck into a variety of tasks, including:
- Sitting in on candidate registrations and interviews
- Learning how to review CVs properly and spot ways to improve them
- Handling admin tasks like creating and sending risk assessment forms
- Booking in work socials for the team
- Interviewing senior members of the company so I could write a blog post for their website
It was great to be trusted with these jobs, and it made me feel like a real part of the team.
Skills I’ve Gained
This placement helped me develop loads of transferable skills. I’ve become much more confident using business software and handling admin tasks, and it was so useful to see how professional phone calls and emails are managed day-to-day.
