Technical Web Analyst


Salary - £35,000 - £45,000


Our large online and retail client is looking to recruit a Technical Web Analyst to join the Ecommerce department with their web developers, front end and email coders and test analysts. You will support and work closely with web trading, content and promotional teams.


Role Responsibilities:

  • To act as our Digital Analytics administrator and technical owner
  • Planning and delivering tracking for new web developments
  • Ensuring marketing activities are tracked and measured in a robust and efficient manner, minimising latency on their ecommerce sites and ensuring relevant metrics are available
  • Providing ongoing assessment and audit of current analytics tools and their data layer, working to continually improve both new and existing tags
  • Ensuring all data collected and made available via analytics is GDPR compliant
  • To provide support to the wider Ecommerce team, enabling best practice reporting, collaborate in the design of dashboarding, segmentation and KPIs
  • To investigate and fix data accuracy issues


Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Educated to Degree standard, preferable in a numerate or computing discipline
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience within an e-commerce role
  • Experienced user of at least one digital analytics platform
  • Experience of Google product such as Search Console or Adwords
  • Experience of building reports for session recording tools such as Tealeaf
  • Experience of ecommerce activities such as search optimisation, configuring web software
  • Familiarity with front end code HTML / JavaScript / CSS
  • Skilled with Microsoft Office - excel / access etc
  • Numerate & literate
  • Attention to detail
  • Demonstrable experience working within a tag management platform
  • Knowledge of HTML and JavaScript
  • Excellent knowledge of Tag Management Systems, ideally Tealium and GTM
  • Experience of working with APIs
  • Experience using data insight tools such as Power BI


Key Competencies:

  • The role requires an excellent knowledge of tag management systems with hands-on practical experience implementing analytics
  • You will be working within the Ecommerce department, with their web developers, front end and email coders and test analysts
  • You will support and work closely with web trading, content and promotional teams


Technical Implementation

  • Ensure digital analytics tools are optimised to meet business requirements
  • Create bespoke code for a complex tracking implementations: HTML / JavaScript / CSS
  • Configure digital analytics tools so that they are optimal for their use
  • Work alongside the development team to implement tagging specification
  • Work with development team to continually improve the data layer
  • Test and validate analytics and marketing tags, ensure collection of data is accurate and troubleshoot any data irregularities
  • Perform technical audits
  • Adhere to best practice approaches for implementation of digital analytics and tag management
  • IBM/Google/Bing product administrator, configure analytics tools and user admin


Analytics Support

  • Deliver analytics training and support to wider ecommerce and marketing teams
  • Look for opportunities to improve automated reporting
  • Create appropriate eventing and reports to identify customer struggle in support of their A/B test, CRO and UX programs
  • Work with a variety of data sources and analytics tools and select the best combination of tools for task


Insight Support

  • Aid in the design of reports that will play an integral part in decision making
  • Assist with the development of reports, dashboards and analysis of analytical reports with recommendations
  • Capable of manipulating large datasets to help draw key insight from the data
  • Understand how data can be translated into insightful data visualisations
