We have partnered with a global engineering client based in Bath. We are recruiting Dynamics 365 System administrator on a permanent contract to start ASAP. You will be responsible for supporting the Finance Transactional Systems Manager with the delivery of the finance system transformation programme, in particular the migration of 60+ entities from legacy finance systems to our global ERP system, D365 and the ongoing provision of BAU support to those migrated sites.

The key deliverables of this role are:

  • To provide ongoing administration support to the finance team on finance modules within D365 and other transactional finance systems such as Concur.
  • To develop an understanding of key finance system processes in order to support optimal use of the finance system(s)
  • To develop an understanding of key accounting processes in order to better understand and support these processes within the finance system(s)
  • To provide excellent customer service to the finance team, ensuring requests requiring finance system administration support are investigated & resolved on a timely basis,
  • To provide support to senior management on any areas of finance where it has been identified further benefits could be obtained from optimisation of current processes, systems and technology
  • To support the finance implementation programme while BAU responsibilities & load build up

The role is based in Bath, with some expectation of some limited travel, within the UK and overseas

Key Responsibilities:

BAU Activities

Responsibility for maintaining all transactional finance systems including Concur, D365, Payroll and Sharepoint Hub.

Finance System Administration

  • Maintain master data within D365 including Chart of Accounts, Finance dimensions, Account Rules.  Apply appropriate governance, ensuring changes are only made with appropriate approval from the master data owner and across all systems necessary to maintain alignment
  • Maintain Setup of project codes & approvers
  • Maintain foreign exchange rates within D365
  • Upload finalised budgets
  • D365 Year End Rollover
  • Customise D365 upload templates where required

System Maintenance:

  • Work closely with IT to minimise the impact of any system downtime/upgrade/maintenance on finance activities

Finance Processes

  • Work with external suppliers and Finance process owners to ensure D365 process maps & training materials are regularly reviewed and kept up to date within Sharepoint

Finance System(s) User Support

  • Maintain the Finance Systems Helpdesk, being the first point of contact for any Finance specific system queries or problems
  • Work with finance end users to understand the issue, using system knowledge to conduct root cause analysis to identify the underlying problem, providing resolution if able.
  • Escalate technical issues as required to the D365 IT Helpdesk
  • Proactively identify end user training opportunities to optimise use of the system

Finance Sharepoint Hub

  • Develop and Maintain the Global Finance Sharepoint Hub

User set up

  • Maintain the security matrix for finance role allocations to D365 security profiles/personas. Ensuring all combinations are appropriately signed off by the Group Financial Controller and no segregation of duty violations exist.
  • Ensure all finance security permissions allocated to users, are setup in accordance with the security matrix and any special arrangements have been appropriately signed off by the GFC.
  • Ensure system permissions allocated to the local finance team are commensurate with their job responsibilities and are in line with delegated authorities and approval limits

Integrations/Feeder Systems 

  • Monitor the integrity of data flows in and out of the finance systems and ensure an appropriate control environment exists to provide confidence in completeness, accuracy and timeliness of data.
  • Take appropriate steps where necessary to address any areas where data transfer has failed and where necessary, work with & escalate issues to the IT helpdesk for further investigation and resolution.

System Development/Optimisation

  • Assist in the continuous improvement of our finance systems, working with the finance teams/ IT/3rd party advisors to oversee development of our finance systems, where necessary

Other Projects

  • Support Upgrade and Implementation of Transactional Finance Systems as required, including the expenses and payroll systems.
  • Work closely with the Finance FP&A team to ensure D365 remains aligned with and supports the optimisation of Analytics & Reporting.
  • Work with Head of Finance Transformation to build and develop the new Finance Sharepoint Hub
  • Explore new technology & tools to further optimise finance processes e.g Power Automate


  • Good level of knowledge and experience of Finance ERP processes and system implementations
  • Numerate and Analytical skill set with strong Excel and Power BI skills
  • Highly organised; flexible and focussed with an easy ability to prioritise
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written skills (ability to communicate across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders)
