North Somerset (commutable from Bath, Bristol, Yeovil, Taunton, W-S-M, etc) based Finance Controller position.

This business has seen significant increase in both market share and revenue, gaining a substantial presence in this very exciting marketplace. They are a multi-divisional group, with a strong financial track-record and excellent team. They have seen an increase in turnover from <£5M to £20M in the last 2 years!

You will be responsible for the oversight of the finance function (including a small team) and will partner closely with the FD and MD to help build, shape and execute further business growth/strategy, whilst maintain a sleek financial team and reporting.

Working in an SME environment you will have the opportunity to be hands on as well as lead your team and thrive on the unique challenges this brings.

Key duties include:

  • Production of timely and accurate monthly management accounts
  • Preparation of monthly reporting information for the Finance Director & Managing Director
  • Oversee, manage and lead the finance function (3)
  • Develop, train and mentor the finance team
  • Responsible for debtor/creditor control
  • Weekly focus on cash balances and cash flow management
  • Budgeting/Forecasting, including assisting in the Annual Process
  • Review and authorisation of supplier payments
  • Cost control & variance analysis with commentary of drivers in deviation of company cost profile
  • Management of P&L, Balance Sheet & Cash Flow
  • Oversee preparation and submission of accurate VAT and Compliance returns to deadlines
  • Preparation of year end accounts and close process to deadlines
  • Oversee and manage the year-end audit process
  • Responsible for the integrity, accuracy and development of the businesses financial IT systems
  • Continuous development and improvement of systems, processes and procedures across the finance function in strive to achieve best practice

You will be a qualified accountant, CIMA, ACCA, ACA and preferably have experience of working in construction, engineering or manufacturing, but this is NOT essential.

Ideally you will have previously worked in an SME environment and be a committed team player who the team can rely on to lead them through the growth ahead. You will have excellent accuracy and strong IT system experience. You will be an effective and confident communicator who can successfully engage and motivate your team.
