Accountant - 1 Year FTC - Gloucester

A well known reputable business in Gloucester is seeking a Financial Accountant (1 year FTC) to join at a time of significant change. Due to growth, investment and a structural change, we are looking for a technical accountant with problem solving skills. This will suit someone who enjoys process improvement and working as part of a friendly team. 

Reporting into the Financial Controller, responsibilities will include:

• Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in line with FRS 102
• Month-End and Year-End Close: Manage the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring all financial data is reconciled and reported on time.
• Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, providing key insights to support strategic financial planning.
• Audit and Compliance: Coordinate and support internal and external audits, ensuring all financial processes and records comply with institutional policies and external regulatory standards.
• Balance Sheet Reconciliation: Maintain and reconcile the balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies.
• Cost Allocation: Oversee the financial management of different income streams, ensuring compliance requirements and proper cost allocation.
• Fixed Asset Management: Monitor and maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring proper capitalization, depreciation, and asset disposals are accurately recorded.
• VAT and Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with VAT and tax regulations, preparing returns and advising on tax-related issues.
• Financial Analysis: Provide detailed financial analysis, identifying key trends and risks to support decision-making by senior management.

Your Profile:

• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or equivalent
• Strong attention to detail
• Knowledge of FRS102 is desirable
• Ability to start by October
• A problem solver and team player
